Committee meets on the 2nd Saturday of each month at 10:00 AM
Purpose of the Rules & Elections Committee: Organizes and executes elections. Proposes Election Procedures, Standing Rules, and Bylaws amendments to the Board for approval. Holds grievance hearings, and makes findings and recommendations to the Board. Reviews Bylaws, the Brown Act, the Department’s updated guidelines, and all other Board requirements to help ensure Board Compliance. Ensures that Election Procedures & current Standing Rules are uploaded to the BHNC website for public review. Maintains a list of board approved community interest groups who can participate in neighborhood council elections.

The Rules and Elections Committee conducts its business by reviewing and prioritizing agenda requests for Board action (generally either in the form of a motion or letter) or announcements submitted by stakeholders, governmental entities and other interested individuals and organizations. The Administrative Committee has the discretion to postpone an request, refer it to a specific committee for review and recommendation, treat it as an announcement or consider and resolve it as a non-Board administrative matter.
